The Rumsey Improvement Association (RIA) is a non-profit community organization with a mission to restore, maintain and operate beneficially for this historical landmark building called, The Rumsey Town Hall.

We’re committed to creating a community space for activities and working with local organizations within the Capay Valley to protect the integrity of our residents. Our beautiful town hall provides a gathering place and forum for exchanging ideas, information, and charitable needs for the residents of the upper Capay Valley and beyond.

The RIA provides the land, building & operational infrastructure costs for the local contract Rumsey Post Office.

The Capay Valley Almond Festival is our most important fundraiser of the year. All proceeds support the maintenance of our historic town hall and the Post Office.

HISTORY.

The Rumsey Town Hall was built in 1906. After years of decline, the community banded together in the 1990s and organized a non-profit called the Rumsey Improvement Association (RIA) to begin a 20+ year project to restore our hall.

In 2014, the RIA received a very generous grant from the Baldo children in honor of their parents, Chris and Betty, who had been passionate believers in keeping the Rumsey Town Hall standing. The grant was suggested to be used for improving our outside gathering space. With this in mind, Facciuto Landscape Design & Construction installed and designed a new patio and covered deck for outdoor events. Part of the Baldo grant money was set aside to purchase a new wood-fired pizza oven and BBQ.

In 2018, an additional grant made available through Yolo County was used to improve this historic building. These funds helped us update interior lighting and install new HVAC.
